This week www.ajunews.com interviewed our CTO Keith Ha about our SuperStream solution powering KT's SuperVR service in South Korea.
"Realistic media markets such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are rapidly growing on the 5G network. This is because as more people refrain from going out to Corona 19, more IT companies are trying to utilize sensational media through various non-face-to-face services.
Korean startup AlcaCruz, which was founded in Silicon Valley, USA, is also one of the companies that recently attracted attention. AlcaCruz also participated in the development of 8K high-definition VR streaming service of KT's realistic media platform'Super VR'.This is the first time in the world that a VR streaming service has been released with 8K-level high definition.
This service divides 8K-level ultra-high resolution VR video into hundreds of pieces and stores them in the cloud. When the user turns his head, the appropriate screen is quickly transmitted from the cloud. In addition, vivid ultra-high school students can also experience VR video, so that a realistic screen unfolds before your eyes.
This requires a 5G-based fast network environment as well as a technology that realizes ultra-high-definition video.SuperVR's 8K VR streaming service is a result of combining KT's 5G network optimization technology with AlcaCruz's SuperStream solution. This service cooperation was first proposed by KT last year to AlcaCruz.
